Abstract

The market is a part of the social life of society whose growth and development is adapted to customary norms in a region which then becomes a means of economic activity that supports the needs of the community and also becomes a meeting place for sellers and buyers. Judging from its development, the market can be interpreted as an institution or institutions managed by the government so that trade transactions can take place well. The current condition of the Suradadi traditional market in Tegal Regency is worrying in terms of cleanliness and low level of comfort. The problems include narrow circulation of users, types of merchandise not in accordance with the commodity group, traders who are not yet accommodated, lack of regulation of kiosks so that many kiosks are irregular, lack of attention to the surrounding environment and the negative impact of the waste produced makes the surrounding environment becomes unhealthy and dirty and there is no green open space or vegetation arrangement. Based on several of these problems, it is necessary to redesign the Suradadi market to overcome existing market problems so that it can carry out its functions optimally with the facilities and space that support each other.The method in this design starts from literature studies, conducting comparative studies and then collecting data with observations, to prepare planning and design concepts for the Green Architecture Approach in the Suradadi Market Building Design Concept in Tegal Regency. With this Green Architecture approach, the market building is environmentally friendly, becomes a beautiful building, utilizes energy sources from the sun and cools the air in Suradadi District and supports a green environment. The design strategy parameters include landscape layout, facade and building envelope, as well as mass and space layout. In conclusion, the presentation of data related to space programming, design concepts, as well as exterior and interior working drawings in two-dimensional and three-dimensional form as design illustrations
