Abstract
A covid-19 survivor is someone who has been declared cured of the covid-19 virus. Apart from physical illness, covid-19 survivors are also at risk of developing mental illness. This risk appears before being exposed to covid, while undergoing quarantine, even until being declared cured of covid-19. This happens because of the pressures that exist on them, in addition to the emergence of community stigmatization, which makes it difficult for them to return to normal activities. The purpose of this study was to explore the life experiences of covid survivors from before to after quarantine. The research method uses a qualitative phenomenological approach with data collection using semi-structured interviews and data analysis using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The subjects involved in this study were 5 covid survivors who were quarantined in hospitals or covid-19 patient shelters. The results showed that eight main themes were found: (1) causes of exposure to covid-19; (2) fear of the covid-19 virus; (3) initial response when exposed in the form of physical and psychological responses; (4) quarantine process; (5) quarantine experience; (6) social support; (7) experience after quarantine; and (8) meaning of life. The findings of this study are expected to be used as input to further understand the process before and after recovering from the covid-19 virus.
