Abstract

The use of personal protective equipment by workers while working is an effort to avoid exposure to hazard risks in the workplace. The level of education, length of service, knowledge and attitude are factors that affect the compliance of the use of personal protective equipment in workers. There are cases of work accidents in companies engaged in textiles caused by negligent workers in using personal protective equipment. The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between the level of education, length of service, knowledge and attitude with the compliance of the use of personal protective equipment on weaving workers at PT Sari Warna Asli II Boyolali. This research method uses quantitative research with the type of analytical observational research using Cross Sectional design. This study used primary data in the form of questionnaires and secondary data from companies. The population in this study was 1119 weaving section workers. By using quota sampling as a sampling technique, a sample of 100 workers was obtained. This study uses variables in the form of education level, length of work, knowledge and attitude. The results of this study stated that as many as 80% of workers were compliant in wearing personal protective equipment and as many as 20% of workers were non-compliant. Research shows that there is a relationship between education level (p-value = 0.018), knowledge (p-value = 0.000) and attitude (p-value = o.001) and adherence to the use of personal protective equipment. The level of education, knowledge and good attitude can also have a good influence on compliance with the use of personal protective equipment on workers, while for working period (p-value = 0.471) there is no significant relationship with compliance with the use of personal protective equipment. Companies need to pay attention to and improve the above factors related to compliance with the use of personal protective equipment because there are still non-compliant employees.
