Abstract
Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is a non-communicable disease or often called a degenerative and progressive disease that affects around 250 million people throughout the world and more than 27 million people in the United States. Osteoarthritis is often associated with aging but is also often associated with significant factors including female gender, overweight, obesity, genetics, trauma, knee injury, repetitive joint activity, bone density, muscle and joint weakness. Research Objectives: Objectives of the study This research aims to determine the relationship between body mass index and dynamic balance in knee osteoarthritis sufferers at Posyandu Melati 3 Kepanjen Delanggu. Research Method: This research uses observational research with a cross sectional study approach. Research Results: The results of this research first using the characteristic test showed that women had a presentation rate of (92.5%) and those aged 51-62 years had the highest percentage rate, respectively (22.7%). Then, both studies used a normality test where for BMI the p-value was 0.411 > 0.05 and for dynamic balance the p-value was 0.254 > 0.05 so that both data were normally distributed. Finally, the Pearson bivariate correlation test obtained a result of 0.351 so that variables X and Y are related. Conclusion: Based on the results of research conducted for 1 week, it was found that there was a relationship between body mass index and dynamic balance in sufferers of knee osteoarthritis at Posyandu Melati 3 Kepanjen Delanggu.
