Abstract

The lift cylinder is one component of the bulldozer unit that functions to raise and lower the blade by utilizing hydraulic oil pressure. In this lift cylinder, hydraulic pressure is converted into mechanical motion which can eventually move the elevator cylinder forward and backward. Lift cylinders include cylinder barrels, piston shafts, pistons, cylinder heads, O-rings and seals, piston nuts, and hydraulic pipes. The writing of this final project report aims to find out the type of damage, the cause of the damage, and the corrective steps that must be taken on the damaged component. The method used is by observing and checking the unit, then the results of these observations can be used as a basis for analyzing the problem that causes damage, to ensure detailed damage to the components, so that the disassembly process is carried out. Based on the results of observations and the disassembly process on the lift cylinder components, it was found that there was damage to the O-ring and seal on the piston cylinder and cylinder head which was worn due to age and dirty lift cylinders which resulted in damage. Thus causing leakage in the lift cylinder components. The repair steps taken in the repair process are by replacing the O-ring and seal with new parts (reseal). Precautions taken so that the same damage does not occur in the future are by routinely conducting daily checks and periodic maintenance procedures.
