Abstract

Stunting is a condition where a child under five fails to grow due to having insufficient nutrition, especially at 1,000 HPK. Stunting influences brain growth and development. Stunted children also have a greater risk of developing chronic diseases when they grow up. Generally, stunting has an impact caused by a child's minimal nutritional intake in the first thousand days. One of the factors causing stunting in children is poor child rearing patterns, which is caused by the mother's lack of knowledge. Mothers' limited knowledge endangers children's growth and development and health. The prevalence of stunting in Sukoharjo Regency is 3545 cases spread across 12 Community Health Centers. Of the 12 Community Health Centers, the most cases of stunting were at the Polokarto Community Health Center, namely 577 cases with a percentage of 13.57%. To determine the level of maternal knowledge about stunting among mothers who have children under five in the Polokarto Community Health Center work area. This research is descriptive quantitative research with a survey approach. The research population is all mothers who have children under five in the Polokarto health center working area. This research uses a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling technique. The sample size in this study was 100 mothers. Knowledge measurement uses a questionnaire with 27 questions. The results of this study showed that 94 mothers (94%) had good knowledge and 6 mothers (6%) had poor knowledge. The majority of respondents in this study had knowledge that was categorized as Good, namely 94 people (94%).The hope is that this research can provide input for medical officers to convey information related to stunting to mothers who have children under five. Then mothers are expected to be more active in seeking information about stunting, both from health officials and other information media.
