Abstract
Nutritional knowledge has an influence on food choices. One type of food that is popular with adolescent is Ultra Processed Food (UPF), but as many as 67,9% don’t read the nutrition facts before consuming. This is caused by a lack of nutritional knowledge. Factors that influence a person's nutritional knowledge are education, experience, logic and information. Education can increase nutritional knowledge through providing nutritional education. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of education on increased knowledge in adolescent about nutrition facts in SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta. This research used a Pre-Experiment Design with one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 32 class XI students at SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta, taken using a simple random sampling technique. Knowledge data was collected using a questionnaire consisting of 15 questions with multiple choice type. Statistical test of the data used the Wilcoxon test. Based on the research results, there was an increase in the average knowledge score of 3.12 point. Based on Wilcoxon test, a p-value was obtained of 0.326 (>0.05), which meant that there was no effect of education on increased knowledge in adolescent about nutrition facts in SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta. It is hoped that students can apply their understanding of nutrition facts when consuming UPF.
