Abstract

The power train is a system that connects power from the engine to the flywheel. The Barata MG-8 three wheel roller compactor uses the working principle of a mechanical power train, by transferring power from the engine through the clutch - transmission gear - axle unit (differential) - roller wheel. A compactor unit with optimal performance can deliver power efficiently and does not experience many losses. The Barata MG-8 three wheel roller compactor has an over center type main clutch which uses a double acting clutch with two friction plates, which functions to connect or disconnect the engine with the transmission gears and change the forward or reverse direction of the compactor unit. Disruption of heavy use, so performance is not optimal. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the cause of damage and repair the main clutch on the Barata MG-8 three wheel roller compactor power train. The results of the analysis showed that there were parts of the main clutch component that were damaged in the connecting bolts or clutch fasteners and the lever with the friction plate had holes loosened, so that the main clutch could not work optimally. The inspection procedure for the main clutch is to carry out a performance test, followed by disassembly to carry out a visual inspection of the damaged components, then carry out parts replacement/repair, assembly and running test.
