Abstract

This research was motivated by parents' concerns about their children's morals when outside or in public schools, fear of promiscuity and bad behavior, therefore the solution was for them to send their children to Islamic boarding schools. The aim of this research is to determine the motivation of parents to choose the Ta'mirul Islamic Islamic boarding school as moral development for their children and to find out the impact of parental motivation on children's moral development at the Ta'mirul Islamic Islamic boarding school. This type of research is filed research, with a phenomenological approach because this research is based on facts in the field. Then data collection techniques are obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. This research uses data analysis techniques with the Miles and Hubermen model which consists of three flows, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. In the results of the findings, the researchers found that the causes of motivation from parents were different and were classified into two types, namely internal and external, from internal motivation, parents' motivation was due to their children having good morals, such as wanting their children to be pious and disciplined. Meanwhile, from external factors, parental motivation is caused by parents being busy in their careers, parental motivation is due to not being able to care for children, parental motivation is due to separation of parents or what is called a broken home, parental motivation is due to cost factors, parental motivation is due to encouragement from the surrounding environment. . And from each of these motivations, parents hope that the formation of moral character in their children. Then, the impact of parental motivation on the development of children's morals at the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic boarding school is that parental motivation, whether internal motivation or external motivation, each has an impact on the development of children's morals at the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic boarding school. The impact can be either positive or negative.
