Abstract

The construction of the Salatiga City Toll Gate has an impact on economic and social aspects in the communities surrounding the development. Statements ofpros and cons arise from the public because toll road construction has positive and negative impacts. Therefore, research is needed on the impact of the Salatiga Toll Gate on the surrounding community. The aims of this research are (1) Analyzing the social characteristics of the people of Tingkir Tengah Village,Tingkir District, Salatiga City (2) Analyzing the impact of the construction of the Salatiga Toll Gate on the socio- economic conditions of the people of Tingkir Tengah Village, Tingkir District, Salatiga City. The method used is a descriptive quantitative approach by collecting primary data using a research questionnaire and then processing it through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the social impact of having a toll gate for the surrounding community is that it makes the location more busy and opens up business opportunities for local residents. However, traffic jams often occur as evidenced by the total number of respondents' answers of around 66% stating thattraffic jams have increased. The economic impact resulting from the presence of atoll gate is a decrease in the turnover of traders and business actors around the location due to traffic jams and widening of the road shoulder carried out by the toll road, thereby reducing parking space for visitors who come. This is shown by the respondents' answers which decreased by 61%, remained 17%, and only 22% of respondents felt that their income had increased.
