Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of variations in torch movement speed of 2000 mm/min, 2300 mm/min, and 2500 mm/min on the process of cutting ST 37 steel metal with a CNC plasma cutting machine. In the research, several tests will be carried out, namely Surface Roughness Testing using the MITUTOYO SJ210 Surface Roughness Tester and Surface Topography Testing using SEM. The method used in this research is experimental. Surface Roughness Test Results show that variations in torch movement speed of 2000 mm/min have the smoothest roughness value results, while variations in torch movement speed of 2500 mm/min have the roughest value results. Surface Topography Test Results show that variations in torch movement speed of 2000 mm/min have smooth surfaces tending to be green with a flat texture while variations in torch movement speed of 2500 mm/min have rough surfaces tending to be green and dark blue and dark red. as well as the presence of uneven texture curves.
