Abstract

Introduction: Nutritional status is a nutritional issue that can be influenced by the breastfeeding mother's behavior. If a breastfeeding mother's behavior is not good, it can affect the quality and quantity of breast milk, leading to problems in the nutritional status of infants. The prevalence of poor nutritional status in 2021 for infants aged 0-6 months in Karanganyar Regency was second highest in Jatipuro District, with a prevalence rate of 8.9%. Objective: To determine the relationship between breastfeeding mother's behavior and the nutritional status of infants aged 0-6 months at the Jatipuro Community Health Center in Karanganyar Regency. Research Method: This study used an observational method with a cross-sectional approach. There were 30 respondents selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data on breastfeeding mother's behavior were collected using a breastfeeding mother's behavior questionnaire, and nutritional status data were interpreted using Z-Score (weight-for-age). Normality testing showed that the data were not normally distributed, so the relationship test uses the Spearman Rank test was used. Results: Based on the research, it was found that 56.7% of breastfeeding mothers had adequate behavior, while 16.6% had inadequate behavior. Infants had very poor nutritional status in 3.3% of cases, low weight in 33.3% of cases, and a risk of overweight in 13.4% of cases. The research results showed that the p-value was 0.041. Conclusion: There is a relationship between breastfeeding mother's behavior and the nutritional status of infants aged 0-6 months at the Jatipuro Community Health Center in Karanganyar Regency according to the weight-for-age index.
