Abstract

Long-distance marriage is a situation where a husband and wife are separated because their partner is working or completing their studies in another area. The Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on the routine of meeting long-distance partners because of government programs that require people to carry out activity restrictions. This study aims to find out and understand in depth the experiences of wives who undergo long-distance marriage relationships during the pandemic. The method used in this study is a phenomenological approach with IPA (Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis) analysis techniques. The participants involved were six wives who were married under five years and underwent long-distance marriage during the pandemic by collecting data using semi-structured interviews. The findings of this study indicate that relationships in long-distance marriage partners may become more special when couples can adjust their love language when they meet and when they are far apart in order to still feel loved by their partners. The wife's attachment pattern that is formed when undergoing a long-distance marriage during this pandemic can become a dynamic attachment under certain conditions. Delaying problem solving due to long absences can trigger long conflicts so that participants must immediately improve the quality of two-way communication and immediately resolve conflicts so that they do not drag on by lowering their respective egos.
