Abstract

The background of this research is people's lack of understanding of the inherent and true human value of each individual. As a result, there are many deviations, violence, immorality, racism, and other bad deeds against other people because of the lack or even lack of understanding of human values. The purpose of this research is to find the main principles of Human Value, how human value is depicted in the Movie The Green Mile and the reason why Frank Darabont/Stephen King specifically chose the topic of Human Value in The Green Mile. The results found in this research are: 1. 8 basic principles of Human Value, 10 basic values of human value and the reason why Frank Darabont/Stephen king discussed Human value in The Green Mile is because Stephen king himself has a connection to death row prisoners and the old sparky or electric chair and also his idea of a black-skinned death row man who has the ability to heal others. The method used in this research is snapping, which is by recording scenes that match the topic discussed in the form of screenshots. This method is carried out by 1. Watching the Movie, The Green Mile thoroughly, 2. Paying attention to scenes and conversations that are in accordance with the topics discussed, 3. Recording scenes/screen shooting in accordance with Shalom H. Schwarz's theory related to the main principles of Human Value and the basic values of Human Value, and 4. Presenting the findings in chapter 4 related to findings and discussion. The conclusion of this research is that human value is the value that each individual has and must be respected and recognized by others so that each individual has the right to receive proper and equal treatment.
