Abstract
This thesis discusses the style of educational thinking and learning methods according to Ibn Khaldun. The main issues discussed are what are the patterns of educational thinking and what methods are used by Ibn Khaldun in learning. The aims of this research are (1) to describe the pattern of educational thought of Ibn Khaldun, (2) to describe the learning method according to Ibn Khaldun. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research with a literature study approach. Data collection was carried out by means of literature review through books, scientific works related to Ibn Khaldun. Based on the results of the study that the style of thinking in Education of Ibn Khaldun is rational, providing ideal and practical vision of educational goals. Ibn Khaldun can also be called an educational figure who is idealistic-realistic. The uniqueness of Ibn Khaldun's thoughts on Islamic Education methods can also be seen from his critical attitude towards several methods that were commonly applied in his time. Such as the Qur'an learning method which pays little attention to aspects of language, learning from summarized books, and rote methods, the tourist widya method.
