Abstract

The Wates Regional General Hospital is located at Jalan Tentara Pelajar No.Km.1 No. 5, Beji Village, Kulon Progo Regency. RSUD Wates is a non-educational Class B hospital. The issues at RSUD Wates involve certain aspects of the hospital building's physical condition being deemed incompatible with government regulations, technology, and community needs. The majority of the inpatient installation in the old building has been transformed into COVID isolation rooms, and medical support facilities such as radiology rooms and laboratories in the northern area of the hospital are housed in an old building, thus lacking in both capacity and quality. Additionally, with the presence of Yogyakarta International Airport, there is a need for healthcare facilities to support the YIA airport. The redesign of the RSUD Wates building employs a contextual architectural approach. The purpose of this redesign is to elevate RSUD Wates to an internationally-classified hospital by adhering to standards set by JCI, NHS, and national regulations. The redesign activities result in a new program for the hospital and a more modern and efficient building design.
