Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of the Menara Kudus in improving the surrounding economy before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Covid-19 pandemic hit the domestic tourism sector. This sector can be categorized as affected initially, both from global and local factors. With conditions like this, the recovery of the tourism sector is considered important as a way to revive the community's economy. This research is descriptive qualitative methods in the form of speech, writing and attitudes of the sources and the results are in accordance with the facts of the situation in the field which can provide a view of the phenomena in the field in accordance with the situation, conditions and facts without having to measure and convert them into numbers. Data collected methods were interview, observation and documentation. The research location was Kauman Village, Kudus Regency, Central Java. That Covid-19 severely hampers tourism by imposing Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) and Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), eventually resulting in many people having difficulty traveling outside the home, so as not to spread the virus more widely. The people who feel the direct impact of Covid-19 are small traders who only rely on the merchandise they sell and depend on the proceeds from their sales at the location of the "Menara Kudus" (Mosque) religioun tourist attraction. From the research results and discussions that have been presented, it can be concluded that: The existence of the PPKM policy imposed by the Government to stop the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government's policy has worsened the tourism sector and small traders who depend on the tourists who come to the area of the Menara Kudus Tourism. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the tourism sector at the national and regional levels. Some companies in the area of Menara Kudus have been forced to closed their business.
