Abstract

Adolescence is the beginning of self-discovery efforts so that individuals are at the crossroads between childhood and adulthood. Smoking behavior is often carried out by individuals starting in high school, maybe even earlier. A person's smoking behavior is influenced by several factors namely pleasure, curiosity, peer influence and wanting to look mature related to self-esteem. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between self-esteem and conformity with smoking behavior in generation z adolescents. This study used a quantitative research approach. The subjects of this study were generation Z aged 12-25 years who carried out smoking behavior totaling 100 respondents. Sampling technique with quota sampling. Data analysis techniques with product moment correlation techniques. The results showed (1) there was a relationship between self-esteem and conformity with smoking behavior in generation z adolescents (2) There is no relationship between self-esteem and smoking behavior in generation Z adolescents (3) There is a relationship between conformity and smoking behavior in adolescents generation Z.
