Abstract

Catfish is a fishery commodity that is widely cultivated in the community. One of the factors that must be maintained when cultivating catfish is maintaining the quality of the water in the pond. Therefore, a system is needed to monitor water quality in catfish farming so that farmers can take appropriate actions to maintain water quality. One technology that can be used to monitor water quality in catfish farming is the Internet of Things (IoT). This research will design and implement a water quality monitoring system in catfish farming using IoT technology. This system consists of several components such as a pH sensor, temperature sensor, LCD I2C liquidcrystal which is connected to a microcontroller. The data generated by these sensors will be sent to the server via a WiFi network. Catfish farmers can monitor the quality of fish pond water from the LCD I2C display and the Android application. In this study, testing and evaluation of the water quality monitoring system for catfish farming with IoT technology will be carried out that has been designed and implemented. This research produced a monitoring tool with quite good results, this is because the error value for acidity and temperature precision is good with an average error range for a pH sensor of 1.88 and a temperature precision of 0.25°C. so the temperature precision has a standard deviation more or less 0,25 and the delay in sending device data to the application is an average of 3,9 seconds. This tool is expected to help people who pioneered catfish farming in maintaining water quality in fish ponds and increasing the productivity of catfish farming.
