Abstract

Kabupaten Wonogiri in Indonesia has many beautiful and picturesque areas with lots of forests and mountains, as well as preserved cultural heritage. There is a lot of tourism potential in Wonogiri, including spiritual, beach, and nature tourism. The Wonogiri Tourism Office manages five tourist attractions, including Waduk Gajah Mungkur and Batu Lebar Tourism Area. The Batu Lebar Tourism Area, located on the western bank of Waduk Gajah Mungkur, has attractive natural potential, but tends to be quiet and requires revitalization while considering environmental sustainability and local wisdom. The identified problems include a decrease in the number of visitors, negative impacts of tourism on the environment, and limited management of the tourism area. Therefore, an Eco Cultural concept is needed to minimize negative impacts and enhance ecological balance in the Batu Lebar tourism area. Using an eco-cultural approach, the design is planned to maintain environmental balance and pay attention to the local culture. The design process involves data collection through field observations, literature studies, and comparative studies analyzed to develop the concept. The result of the design is an educational and recreational public space facility with a public zone consisting of green open spaces and tourist zones. The facility is made while considering local wisdom, practicality, comfort, and sustainability.
