Abstract

Art center Desa Saradan is an object of Javanese cultural center that aims at conservation of Javanese culture through activities in it entitled educational tourism. The background of this design is due to a decrease in the number of intangible cultural heritage in Indonesia, Wonogiri regency has no Art Center, potential in Baturetno district and physical and non-physical problems. The main purpose of this design as cultural conservation and provide a forum for the community in running the arts. The method of building design begins with the process of collecting data by looking for Theoretical Studies, interviews, documentation, identifying and analyzing the data, after that create working drawings and 3-dimensional models. Art Center in the village of Saradan using the design concept of postmodern historism approach. Postmodern Historicism is a school of postmodern architecture that emerged by showing the earliest building components derived from classical components but completed in a modern way (Charles Jencks, 1977). Building design process through macro and micro analysis to produce the final design in the form of Art Center in the village of Saradan. Postmodern historism approach to building design emphasizes icon Gatot Kaca and Ape Ogleng by making batik motifs that use modern materials, roof space frame waveforms such as dancers ' scarves to decorative puppet designs on the walls. The existence of Javanese cultural Art Center in Saradan Village is expected to be a useful place for cultural education, cultural conservation, promoting MSMEs and regional income.
