Abstract

Transmission Is part of the Power Train which functions to regulate the speed, torque and direction so that the unit can move forward or backward. The purpose of making this final project report is to find out the type of damage, causes, and corrective steps for damaged Gearbox components on the Reach Stacker Kalmar DRU450-62S5 unit. The inspection procedure of the Gearbox Powershift Transmission is to understand the symptoms of damage reported by the unit operator and then visually check and operate the unit, after analyzing the cause of the damage then disassembling it to find out the damage that has occurred to the Transmission system. From the results of these checks, the gearbox suffered damage to the bearings and cracked gearbox housing. The cause of this damage is because the gearbox lacks oil which makes the bearings become stuck and rocking which causes excessive vibration so that the gearbox housing cracks. Then the damage can be repaired by replacing the damaged bearings and Gearbox Housing with new Bearings and Gearbox Housing. To avoid damage to the same component, preventive measures are taken by carrying out routine maintenance.
