Abstract

Every teacher in carrying out the evaluation must understand the purpose and benefits of the evaluation or assessment. But there are also teachers who ignore this activity, the important thing is that he enters class, teaches, whether he wants to carry out an evaluation at the end of the lesson or not that is his business. What is clear is that by the end of the semester he has reached the curriculum target. This is the problem in the world of education today. For this reason, an evaluation is needed. This study aims to analyze the principles of educational evaluation, analyze the types of educational evaluation, and describe the relevance of the concept of educational evaluation contained in suras Al-'Ankabu>t verses 2-3 and Al-Zalzalah verses 7-8 with the evaluation of contemporary Islamic education. This research uses a qualitative paradigm with a type of library research that is descriptive. The primary source of this research is the tafsir Al-Qura>n, among the tafsir used are tafsir Al-Maraghi by Ahmad Musthafa Al-Maraghi, tafsir Al-Qura>n Al-Adzim by Ibn Kathir, tafsir As-Sa'di by Abdurrahman bin Nashir As-Sa'di, tafsir Al-Mishbah by M. Quraish Shihab, and tafsir Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka. The muqaran interpretation approach, with documentation data collection techniques, and using inductive and deductive analysis. The results of this study are on the principle of evaluation contained in the two surah including the principle of hadaf, the principle of al-kamāl, the principle of istimrār, the principle of maudhūiyyah, the principle of alfāriq, and the principle of 'adl. The type of evaluation contained in these two letters is that the evaluation carried out includes all the use of power that exists in humans starting with producing a work or deed. Furthermore, there is a type of evaluation that aims to determine the level of knowledge (al-'ilm). In these two letters there are concepts relevant to contemporary education. Even until now the concept of evaluation contained in these two letters can still be applied by the education system in the 2013 curriculum and the independent learning curriculum.
