Abstract

This study aims to identify the relationship between the personality competence of PAI Education is a means to form and improve critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are one of the higher order thinking skills needed to deal with the pace of change, complexity and increasing interdependence in the 21st century. 21st century assessment must teach students to apply critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills need to be developed and trained for students to practice higher order thinking habits, make decisions according to scientific truths, solve problems and improve learning outcomes. The success or failure of education depends on the learning process experienced by students. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research using a phenomenological approach. with data collection techniques interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis used in this research is qualitative data analysis. Based on the data analysis that has been done, it can be interpreted that the teacher's perception of students' critical thinking skills in PAI learning at Madrasah Tsanawiyah 2 Kalijambe is according to indicators from Facione (2015), namely; 1) Interpretation (critical); 2) Analysis (quite critical); 3) Evaluation (quite critical); 4) Inference (quite critical), 5) Explanation (critical). Of the five indicators, students' critical thinking skills at MTs Muhammadiyah 2 Kalijambe are in the fairly critical category from the teacher's perception. Teacher constraints when carrying out teaching and learning activities (KBM) that can influence students in cultivating critical thinking skills, namely; 1) The diversity of different student characters; 2) Drowsiness and laziness become inhibiting factors for students to concentrate on learning; 3) Lack of preparation from teachers; 4) Insufficient learning media; 5) Frequent student permission to go to the student bathroom can affect the material delivered by the teacher.
