Abstract

The quality of education depends on school policies and the leadership style adopted by the principal. The school principal must be able to mobilize all elements in the education unit, be able to coordinate and optimize all the elements in it so that they can trigger and spur the achievement of soaring quality education in the future. The purpose of this study was to explain the leadership style of the principal and to analyze the leadership of the principal in developing the quality of education at SMP Muhammadiyah Sinar Fajar Cawas. This study uses a qualitative phenomenological approach with a type of field study research. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews, and document studies. The results of this study indicate that the principal of SMP Muhammadiyah Sinar Fajar Cawas combines several leadership styles including transformational, transactional, managerial, and teaching leadership. Leadership in developing quality is carried out by developing teacher competence, optimizing infrastructure, improving student learning outcomes, implementing structured administration, implementing independent curriculum and ISMUBA, and establishing collaboration with various stakeholders. All of this is done with the hope that the quality of education at SMP Muhammadiyah Sinar Fajar Cawas can continue to grow.
