Abstract
Confidence is the ability to convince yourself, which plays an important role in everyone's life. However, there are still many who have low self-esteem, especially students. This is influenced by factors such as self-esteem and body image. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-esteem, body image and student self-confidence and the influence of each variable. The research hypothesis is that there is a significant relationship between self-esteem and body image with self-confidence, there is a significant positive relationship between self-esteem and self-confidence, and there is a significant positive relationship between body image and self-confidence. The research sample was active psychology students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta in 2019-2022 and was selected using the purposive sampling method. The approach used is quantitative correlation using three scales of self-confidence, self-esteem and body image. Data analysis used multiple linear regression with the results F = 114.695, p = 0.00 (p <0.05) and a coefficient (R) of 0.780 with an R-square of 0.608, indicating a significant correlation between self-esteem and body image on self-confidence, with self-esteem and body image influencing self-confidence by 60.8%. The results showed r=0.766 p=0.000 (p<0.05), meaning that there was a significant positive correlation between self-esteem and self-confidence, and r=0.571 p=0.000 (p<0.05), meaning that there was a significant positive correlation between body image and self-confidence. These results are expected to encourage tertiary institutions, friends and students to always improve student self-confidence well.
