Abstract

Transformational leadership is a leadership model that is considered capable of answering the times. Idealized Influence is one of the dimensions contained in transformational leadership. This study aims to describe the implementation of the transformational leadership style applied by SDIT Ar-Risalah Surakarta principals in the idealized influence dimension, which consists of 3 aspects, namely the integrity of the principal, the exemplary principal and the ability of the principal in problem solving. This study uses qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. The research results show that: 1). The principal shows integrity in carrying out leadership in the school through managing the vision and mission which includes preparing a vision and mission involving teachers, employees and school stakeholders, consistently implementing strategies for achieving the vision and mission and implementing programs in accordance with the work plans that have been planned and having an attitude of prioritizing organizational interests above personal interests. 2). The exemplary principal of SDIT Ar-Risalah Surakarta to teachers and employees is exemplary in efforts to achieve school targets, including exemplary in implementing strategies for achieving the vision and mission, exemplary operational techniques in achieving programs, exemplary in complying with applicable regulations and exemplary that can foster inspiration and motivation for subordinates to be better. 3). Principals have a qualified capacity in solving problems by continuing their doctoral education and always analyzing problems first and involving parties involved in making policies/solutions and having the courage to make decisions that have big risks.
