Abstract
Cylinder Boom is a hydraulic system actuator in the form of a cylinder (tube) which is located on the lower part of the excavator arm. The function of the cylinder boom is to raise and lower the frem boom. Cylinder boom includes glands (cylinder head), cylinder tube, piston rod, piston, o-rings and seals, brake bushings, locking bolts, and hydraulic pipes. The movement of the boom is carried out by the boom cylinder. This movement system is regulated by the Boom In valve and the Boom Out valve. The arm will make a lifting motion if the boom out valve is open while the boom in valve is closed. Fluid will flow from the Boom Out valve and press the Boom Cylinder piston. As for the downward movement of the boom, the condition of the boom in and boom out valves is the other way around. The damage to the boom cylinder is in the form of no power when going forward and backwards, and the boom cylinder has oil seeping between the head cylinders. Based on the results of observations, the cylinder boom was damaged by piston seals and gland seals that were worn out with age, dirty hydraulic cylinders, damaged hydraulic cylinders due to scratches and rust, water entering the hydraulic system. Then the damage can be overcome by sanding the cylinder and piston tubes and replacing seals and o-rings.
