Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of Alkali NaOH treatment on Apus bamboo woven (Gigantochloa Apus) which can reduce hydrophilic (water loving) properties and can increase adhesion between fiber and matrix surfaces and determine the value of tensile strength, yield strength and elastic modulus of woven fiber composites. apus bamboo with alkali treatment and without alkali treatment. In this study, the alkaline treatment used 98% 2 M NaOH and the matrix used was Yukalac 157 BQTN-EX Polyester resin. Tensile testing was carried out using the ASTM D638 type 3 standard using a machine with the Controlab-France brand type TN20MD. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that NaOH alkaline treatment can increase the average mass change of bamboo from 294.54 gr to 248.01 gr. The results of the tensile test for the woven fiber composites obtained the highest tensile strength and yield strength values for the composites with alkali treatment with a value of 93.26 N/mm2 and a strain of 14.86 % with a mass fraction of 0.449 bamboo.
