Abstract

The undercarriage is a propulsion system used on large-wheeled vehicles such as excavators. There are also those who define the undercarriage as the lower component of a track-type heavy equipment that acts as a carrier for heavy equipment.The track adjuster is the main component of heavy equipment which functions as a shock absorber system and adjusts the track tightness on the excavator undercarriage. If the track adjuster does not work according to standards, there will be many problems and damage to the undercarriage, among others, the track shoe assembly will become loose and easily detached because the track adjuster cannot adjust the tightness of the track, and the unit cannot run.Based on observations, the track adjuster was damaged on the cylinder seal and the rod surface was corroded. This caused the grease that should have been retained to push the idler out through the gaps between the damaged seals and the rusted rod surface so that the track adjuster could not hold the track tight. This damage can be overcome. by replacing the cylinder recoil spring seal and sanding the rusty rod surface to make it smooth again.
