Abstract
Hypertension is a form of health disorder that is often experienced by the elderly due to the aging process. one of the conditions that cause anxiety in people with hypertension is a lack of knowledge, with education it is hoped that it can increase the knowledge of people with hypertension about their disease and reduce the level of anxiety. Purpose: to find out whether there is an effect of education on the level of anxiety experienced by elderly people with hypertension in the Kartasura Health Center area. Method: with a quantitative method of design One Group Pretest-PostTest Design. Sample: is elderly respondents with hypertension as many as 40 people. Sampling uses the Purpose Sampling method with Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test analysis. In collecting data using the research instrument Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) with a total of 14 questions. Results: This study showed that before education was carried out as many as 16 respondents had mild anxiety (40.0), moderate anxiety 16 respondents (40.0), severe anxiety 8 respondents (20.0) the highest value was 31, the lowest value was 14, the average was 21.60. After being given education, 20 respondents (50.0) were not anxious, 17 respondents were mildly anxious (42.5), 3 respondents were moderately anxious (7.5), the highest score was 29, the lowest value was 7, and the average was 14.37. The p-value is 0.000 based on the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. In conclusion, there are differences in anxiety levels before and after being given an education.
