Abstract

The aims of this study were (1) to describe the parenting style of parents in shaping the disciplinary character of grade 1 students at SD Negeri Soco 2 Jogorogo (2) to describe the weaknesses of parenting styles in shaping the disciplinary character of grade 1 students at SD Negeri Soco 2 Jogorogo (3) to plan action further the weaknesses of the parenting style applied by parents to grade 1 students at SD Negeri Soco 2 Jogorogo. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with a case study design. The research was carried out at Soco 2 Jogorogo Public Elementary School, with the object of research being the upbringing of parents and the teacher's role in shaping the disciplinary character of students. Collecting research data using interview, observation, and documentation methods. The data that has been collected is analyzed in three steps: data collection, presenting data (data display), and drawing conclusions or verification (conclusion drawing and verification). While the validity of the data with technical triangulation. The results showed that most of the parenting styles applied by parents at SD Negeri Soco 2 Jogorogo were authoritarian parenting styles. The application of authoritarian parenting has several weaknesses, including showing obedience in front of parents only, children will seek a comfort zone to avoid punishment, and tend to be obedient because they are afraid of punishments that will be imposed when they break the rules that have been made. A follow-up plan to reduce some of the weaknesses found in authoritarian parenting, namely by combining democratic parenting and positive parenting. which will produce children who can do good things with full awareness.
