Abstract
Indonesian territory is an area that is vulnerable to the threat of flooding. SMA Negeri 3 Ponorogo and SMK Negeri 2 Ponorogo are examples of schools affected by floods due to overflows and disrupting the teaching and learning process in schools. This study aims to determine the actions or strategies used by schools in dealing with and overcoming flood disasters and identify the obstacles faced from the strategies used in dealing with and overcoming flood disasters in SMA Negeri 3 and SMK Negeri 2 Ponorogo. Qualitative research is the method used in this study, using a case study design. There are three data collection techniques used in this study, namely, observation, interviews and documentation. The analysis uses a qualitative descriptive technique which includes four components, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that both schools have begun to implement several strategies to reduce the risk of flood disasters. Teachers have used effective media in the form of video screenings covering pre, post-disaster and post-disaster stages, school activities through environmental-themed poster competitions are also conducted by schools to reduce disaster risk. Barriers are the lack of adequate facilities and infrastructure, and the school buildings are not up to disaster-resistant building standards.
