Abstract

The background of this research is the scope of Islamic boarding schools which are often found with the behavior of students who show moral decline and violations occur, such as speaking harshly, lying, going out at night, etc. The Ubay Bin Ka'ab Klaten Islamic boarding school has a pretty good role through an effective strategy in terms of fostering students' morals. This study has the objectives of: (1) To find out the strategy of the Ubay Bin Ka'ab Klaten Islamic boarding school in fostering the morals of the students. (2) To describe the supporting and inhibiting factors of the strategy of the Ubay Bin Ka'ab Klaten Islamic boarding school in fostering the morals of the students. This research is a type of field research or field research using a qualitative approach. The source of this research is the Mudir of the Islamic Boarding School, the informants of this research are Islamic boarding schools and students of the Ubay Bin Ka'ab Islamic boarding school. Data obtained from interviews, observation and documentation. The validity of the data by using source and technique triangulation. The data analysis technique uses descriptive qualitative which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results showed that the strategy of the Islamic boarding school in fostering the morals of the students at the Ubay Bin Ka'ab Islamic boarding school was the book learning strategy with classical learning methods in the form of halaqah, sorogan, memorizing, sorogan, habituation in the form of getting used to the students greeting, and exemplary in the form of inviting students in congregation 'ah in the mosque, giving advice in the form of good advice and warnings, rewards and punishments in the form of appreciation to students who excel and punishments for students who violate the rules in the form of educational punishments. The supporting factors are: the cooperation of teachers and administrators in educating and controlling the students, the environment is an Islamic environment. While the inhibiting factors are: social friends who invite to evil, and different backgrounds of the students so that the character of the students is different.
