Abstract

Dental and oral disorders that often appear during pregnancy are gingivitis, periodontitis and dental caries. The literature shows that many pregnant women complain of dental and oral health problems because pregnant women do not know the right and proper way to maintain oral hygiene during pregnancy. The role of health education is very important to be carried out by involving the media. This study uses video media because video media is an audiovisual media that involves 2 senses at once, namely the sense of sight and the sense of hearing. This research was conducted to determine the effect of health education with video media on the level of dental and oral health knowledge in pregnant women. The research that has been done uses a quantitative research design. The research method used was a pre-experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. The number of respondents in this study amounted to 39 pregnant women with an accidental sampling approach. The data collection technique in this study was to use a test with a questionnaire. After processing the data, the results showed that there were significant differences in the level of knowledge about dental and oral health before and after being given health education through video media. Health education that has been provided through video media has changed the knowledge of pregnant women about dental and oral health. This is in line with previous studies
