Abstract
This research had three objectives: (1) To identify the reader’s profile in The Girl on the Train novel. (2) To describe the reader response profile in The Girl on the Train novel. (3) To find out the disappointment related to the background of the viewers. This study used descriptive qualitative methods. The data source consisted of primary and secondary. Primary data of this study was the response of the reader after reading The Girl on the Train novel in Goodreads website. Secondary data sources related to the study such as the biography of the author, literary books, journals, essay, articles, papers, dissertations, the internet, or other sources related to the study. This study used library research by collecting and selecting both of primary and secondary data source and the analysis data used qualitative analysis, aims to discover and conceive the big picture by using the data to describe the phenomenon and the meaning. The result this studies, first, the most readers are from United States (USA) with the comparison female readers are dominant than male readers, and also range of the readers is between 21 years old until 30 years old. Second, there are six issues of disappointing, namely; character and characterization, plot, writing style, story, overall, and theme. Third, found the disappointing review related to the background such as country, gender, and age. The most disappointing review from United States (USA), females are more dominant gender in responding to their disappointment, and that age 21 years old until 30 years old that more in responding to their disappoinment.
