Abstract

The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia is a challenge for the world of education, the change in learning methods from face-to-face to online learning can cause several obstacles such as lack of student preparation in the process of teaching and learning activities, inadequate internet networks and quotas, and so on. These obstacles can interfere with the teaching and learning process, especially in student learning motivation, in this case students need to have confidence in their own abilities (self-efficacy) to be more motivated when online learning is taking place. This study aims to (1) Test the relationship between self-efficacy and student learning motivation during online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. (2) Examine the difference motivation of male and female students during online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The population used in this study was 813 students at Junior High School 1 Bergas. This study used quantitative methods with data retrieval techniques using purposive sampling, while the data collection method in this study used a self-efficacy scale and a learning motivation scale. This study used the product moment correlation data analysis technique with the help of SPSS for windows which obtained the results of a correlation coefficient of r = 0.763 with a signification (p) of 0.000 < 0.0. This shows that there is a very significant positive relationship between the self-efficacy variable and the learning motivation variable. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test showed that the average data on the female sex learning motivation variable was 101.75 while for the average data on the male learning motivation variable was 89.60 so that there was a difference in the average learning motivation variable between the male sex and women where women showed higher learning motivation.
