Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of students who are experiencing a transition period from class VII to class VIII, which is a period when a teenager is looking for his identity where they start to be brave and try new things that suit their will. It can be seen how important it is to learn the science of PAI, because by studying this knowledge one can grow and increase students' self-confidence and always do good for others. In the learning process, there are several commendable moral contents, such as respect, gratitude, patience, and others. This study aims to: (1) Identify and describe the learning of PAI in shaping the religious character of eighth grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura. (2) Describe the supporting and inhibiting factors in the formation of student character in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura. The type of research used is a qualitative field research. The approach in this research is psychological. Sources of data obtained from primary and secondary data sources, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique is by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the implementation of moral aqidah learning as an effort to grow the character of class VIII students can be done through habituation activities carried out regularly including 5S coaching, dhuha prayer, murojaah Al-Qur'an juz 30, memorizing Asma'ul Husna, praying congregation as well as BTA and Tahfidz. The method used in shaping students' morals is exemplary and habituation. Inhibiting factors include: excessive use of gadgets, lack of parental supervision, and the environment. While the supporting factor is the spirit of the teacher in teaching religious values in schools.
