Abstract
Abstract The importance of instilling or practicing life skills or life skills in children so that children become independent individuals and do not continuously depend on others in solving a problem or task. Thus, the purpose of this study is to describe the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the catalyst day program at MI Muhammadiyah PK Kartasura. This research was conducted at MIM PK Kartasura, Jl. Slamet Riyadi No. 80 Kartasura, Sukoharjo, from December 2018 to March 2019. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research type with a phenomenological approach. The subjects used in this study were school principals, class teachers, class students, and parents. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation, and documentation. This study also uses data triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that (1) the catalyst day program planning at MI Muhammadiyah PK Kartasura was made during a school work meeting. And the preparation is done a day or two before the implementation. Students are invited to discuss in determining the project they want to make. (2) The catalyst day program is held on the 3rd Saturday of the week with a duration of 2 hours. There were some obstacles that were found, but they could be overcome. (3) program evaluation every six months, and always direct monitoring during program implementation. Parents' assessment of the catalyst day program has a very positive response and the children are happy to implement it. This program enables students to think more creatively, children dare to make their own decisions, improve communication with friends, etc. Keywords: life skills, catalyst day
