Abstract

The city of Surakarta is a cultural city with an administrative age of 277 years in 2022. With hundreds of years that have passed by the city of Surakarta, the city of Surakarta has a history that is long enough, one of the important histories in the city of Surakarta is the history of architecture. Architecture in the city of Surakarta has become one of the icons of Surakarta tourism. However, with the many historical values ​​found in buildings in the city of Surakarta, there are many historically worthy buildings that are just left alone and cause various problems in their environment. One example of an area with high historical value is the Loji Wetan area, Surakarta. The existence of Lojiwetan is an area during the Dutch rule which was used as a place of heritage as the residence of the Dutch. The Lojiwetan area is located close to the Surakarta Palace. Lojiwetan Location Selection is a division that has been arranged by the Dutch government at that time in order to unite the Surakarta Kraton in managing its people. The city of Surakarta also has other potentials, one of which is the potential of the creative industry because of the many communities and creative potentials in the city of Surakarta. The Creative City of Surakarta was proposed by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to UNESCO as a World City. By combining these 2 potentials of the City of Surakarta, the idea emerged to develop a creative area with a symbiotic approach where this creative hub combines various elements from old buildings and new buildings, communities of different types and needs into a symbiotic unity in one thing and creates new things. By not leaving the historical value and also the story behind the area which is a silent witness to the development of the city of Surakarta.
