Abstract

The pupose of this study was to determine: (1) the effect of facilities and infrastructure on social studies learning achievement of class VIII students, (2) the effect of learning motivation on social studies learning achievement of class VIII students, (3) the effect of facilities and infrastructure and learning motivation on social studies learning achievement of class VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Rowosari Kendal. This research is a quantitative research using a comparative causal research design. The population in this study used class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Rowosari, amounting to 158 childern. The sample used was 110 students of class VIII. Data collection techniques used a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is normality test, linearity test, heteroscedasticity test, t test, f test, coefficient of determination, relative contribution and effective contribution. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Facilities and infrastructure have no effect on social studies learning achievement. The value tcount (1.462) < ttable (1.982) with a signifivant value of 0.147 > 0.05. (2) learning motivation has no effect on social studies learning achievement, the value of tcount (-1.078) < ttable (1.982) with a significant value of 0.283 > 0.05. (3) Facilities and infrastructure as well as learning motivation have no effect on social studies learning achievement. Fcount (1.187) < Ftable (3.081) and a significance value of 0.309 > 0.05. the coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.022 (2.2%), indicating that the learning achievement variable (Y) is influenced by the facilities and infrastructure variable (X1) and the learning motivation (X2) is 2.2%, with an effective contribution to the facilities and infrastructure variable at 1.63% and the learning motivation variable 0.52%, indicating that the two variable have very little influence on learning achievement.
