Abstract

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that covers almost all aspects of life including thoughts, feelings, actions, perceptions, desires, impulses and control. which is due to the presence of psychotic symptoms present in schizophrenic patients. One of the factors that influence the signs of psychotic symptoms is the level of physical activity. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the level of physical activity had an effect on psychotic symptoms in schizophrenic patients. This type of research uses quantitative with a correlation design to determine the relationship between the two variables. The population in this study amounted to 1459 patients. The sampling technique used was covienent sampling using the G Power measuring instrument which obtained a sample of 136 samples. This research was conducted in outpatient Dr. RSJD. Arif Zainuddin Surakarta. This questionnaire uses 2 questionnaires, namely IPAQ and BPRS. For the level of physical activity itself is classified into 3 levels with low activity with the result criteria <600 MET. Min.weeks, moderate with the criteria for the results of moderate activity = 600-1499MET.min.weeks and high with the criteria for the results of Heavy Activity => 1499 MET.min.weeks guided by the IPAQ questionnaire. For signs of symptoms, using the BPRS questionnaire using a linkert scale of 0: not rated, 1: none, 2: very mild, 3: mild, 4: moderate, 5: moderately severe, 6: severe, and 7: very severe. test the validity and reliability of the IPAQ questionnaire in 14 places from 12 countries, which have been standardized internationally with a level of validity (r=0.40) and a fairly large reliability of 0.70-0.87. Test the validity and reliability of the BPRS questionnaire between 0.87 and 0.97. Based on the results of the correlation test, it is known that the significance value is 0.000, which means Sig. <0.05 and the correlation coefficient value is -0.995 and is negative, which means that there is a very strong negative relationship between the two research variables. A negative relationship indicates that the higher the level of physical activity, the lower the signs of psychotic symptoms.
