Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Ricardian Equivalence Hypothesis as measured through variables in gross domestic product (GDP), taxes, inflation, and foreign debt to public consumption in ASEAN during the period 2009-2020 where the year was the period after passing the global economic crisis in 2008. The study used the panel's data regression analysis method during the 2009-2020 period by sampling data from ASEAN member states. Results with the Fixed Effects approach show that tax revenues and foreign debt have a positive effect on people's consumption. Meanwhile, GDP growth and inflation have no effect on public consumption in ASEAN in 2009-2020. The government is expected to advance less developed sectors of the economy, increase labor productivity and expand labor absorption, because it will improve the financial side of the community increases, so that the level of public consumption tends to increase and these conditions can encourage economic growth.
