Abstract
Background: The condition of the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak that occurred throughout the world made the Indonesian Government Issue regulator to reduce the spread rate, the Ministry of Education and Culture issued a circular regarding Distance Learning (School From Home). The reality that occurs in the field of this system has a negative impact, which can increase the number of emotional disorder in students. Emotional disorder are psychological upheavals within individuals that can affect individual behavior when faced with specific situations. Emotional disorder can not only affect psychological, biological, and social health but can also affect dental and oral health. People with emotional disorder tend to carry out activities to reduce psychological confusion, one of which is nail biting behavior. According to several studies, emotional disorders are closely related to nail biting behavior. Research objective: to determine the relationship between emotional disorders and nail biting behavior in students of SMP Negeri 1 Kertajati. Methods: The type of research used is a cross sectional study. The data used is primary data. The subjects used in this study were 234 respondents, 82 respondents had a bad habit of nail biting with the result that 34 respondents (60.7%) had emotional disorders. Meanwhile, 109 respondents did not have a bad habit of nail biting with the result that 22 respondents (39.3%) had emotional disorders. there are 43 respondents who are included in the exclusion criteria. Data was collected using google form. Results: The results obtained in this study were based on the Chi Square test, namely (p value) of 0.001 < 0.05, which means that there is a significant relationship between emotional disorder and nail biting behavior in SMP Negeri 1 Kertajati students with an OR = 2.801, meaning that children Those who have nail biting behavior have 2,801 times the risk of having emotional disorders compared to children who do not have nail biting behavior.
