Abstract

Career maturity has a very crucial urgency in an individual's career process, Low career maturity can cause individual career processes not match to their potential, and career maturity has a significant impact on decision making related to the chosen career. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-esteem and parental support with career maturity in college students. This study uses a correlational quantitative approach with the sample criteria for undergraduate students Batch 2019, Faculty of Psychology, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The number of samples used in this study were 161 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection tools used are self-esteem scale, parental support, and career maturity. The multiple linear regression technique analysis was used in this study. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between self-esteem and parental support with career maturity, with an R value of 0.715 and a Sig. 0.000 (p < 0.05). There is a positive relationship between self-esteem and career maturity with an r value of 0.714 with a Sig. 0.000 (p < 0.05). There is a positive relationship between parental support and career maturity with an r value of 0.514 with a Sig. 0.000 (p < 0.05). The effective contribution in this study was 51% with details of self-esteem influencing career maturity of 48.33% and parental support influencing career maturity of 2.77%, in this case self-esteem variable has higher contribute value than the parental support variable.
