Abstract
Varieties of public clean water facilities range from Dug/bored wells, artesian wells, regional drinking water service, and mountain freshwater which must be contamination free. One of the problems which are often encountered in an artesian well is the high presence of minerals such as calcium, magnesium or Iron which can cause hardening. Artesian well with an excessive amount of minerals should be treated further. Krebet Village, Gondangrejo District, Karanganyar Regency is one of the villages that uses artesian well. The objectives of this study are to (1) Identifying physical quality of Artesian Well (2) Identifying chemical quality of Artesian Well (3) Identifying feasibility aspects of Artesian well used on daily needs in Krebet Village, Gondangrejo District, Karanganyar Regency. This is a case study which uses Primary and Secondary data. Method of analysis in this study uses a number of steps such as (1) Problem identification (2) Data collection (3) Sample collection (4) Sample testing (5) Making decisions (6) Conclusions and suggestions. Based on water sample which is taken and tested on Sukoharjo’s Environmental Department’s laboratory, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta’s Chemical Engineering’s laboratory, and Sebelas Maret University’s Chemical Engineering’s laboratory. Physical results are colored water, the water has no smell, tasteless, turbidity 154 NTU, temperature 26oC, dissolved substances 312,0 mg/l. Chemical results that fulfill the quality standards are Iron 0,2 mg/l, Chloride 13,00 mg/l, pH 7,7, Zinc 0,145 mg/l, Nitrite 0,011 mg/l, and those that don’t fulfill the quality standards are Cadmium 0,020 mg/l, level of hardness 760,40 mg/l, Lead 0,20 mg/l, Chromium 0,21 mg/l.
