Abstract

The Human Development Index (HDI) in East Java is at the lowest rank compared to other provinces in Java, especially in terms of indicators of formal education. The low HDI is influenced by the lack of formal education because many children do not go to school or children attend Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to analyze and determine the effect of poverty level, GRDP per capita, education level, open unemployment rate, and health level on the Human Development Index (IPM) in Kapubaten/City in East Java Province in 2017-2019. The data used in this research is sourced from the report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The data analysis method used is panel data regression from data from 29 regencies and 9 cities in East Java Province in 2017-2019 using the dependent variable HDI and the independent variables include the Poverty Level, GRDP Per Capita, Education Level, Open Unemployment Rate, and Health Level.
