Abstract

The thesis entitled "Analysis of Sustainability and Location of Herbal Medicine in Nguter District, Sukoharjo Regency" is to determine the sustainability and distribution of raw materials, marketing and labor in the Herbal Medicine Industry, Nguter District. The herbal medicine industry in Nguter District is one of the identities of Sukoharjo Regency which is experiencing problems in its industry related to the location of the industry, namely raw materials, marketing and labor. Research is needed to determine the state and condition of the Nguter Jamu Industry, to the problems that have occurred in recent years. This research aims to: 1) Analysis of the Sustainability of Raw Materials, Marketing and Labor as Determinants of the Location of the Herbal Medicine Industry in Nguter District, 2) Analyzing and Knowing the Distribution of Raw Materials, Marketing and Manpower in the Herbal Medicine Industry in Nguter District. Population data collection by means of a census, namely the entire herbal industry in the district. Hang out with BPOM permission. Data management uses 2 ways, namely qualitative and quantitative data analysis and Flowmap analysis. The data analysis method used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Geographical analysis used is regional analysis which focuses on the different characteristics of each connecting area with the Nguter herbal medicine industry location. Differences in these characteristics encourage a region to interact with other regions. The results of the research are 1) Sustainability of the management of the herbal medicine industry has been passed down from generation to generation and has continued since the 1970s until now. Factors influencing the location of Industry in the form of raw materials, marketing and labor on the sustainability of the availability of raw materials are very good because the reference to the location of origin of the raw materials is wide and how to get the raw materials is facilitated in many ways, one of which is by collectors. Sustainability of marketing is a little difficult due to the economic crisis, starting from 2015 the difficulty of raw materials so that the product is incomplete, the decline in the country's economy and the Covid-19 pandemic. The sustainability of the workforce with 2 industries in very good condition, namely Sabdo Palon and Gujati, which have a much larger number of workers and the others are fairly normal, and the entire herbal medicine industry has no problems in terms of employment because it is easy to find local or foreign workers. 2) Distribution of raw materials mostly comes from Wonogiri and Boyolali and the origin of raw materials is wider in several areas of Central Java, East Java and Yogyakarta, the raw materials are not far from the location of the Nguter Jamu Industry. The marketing distribution of the Herbal Medicine Industry is greatest in Bandung, Sukoharjo and Jakarta and wider marketing throughout the archipelago and Malaysia, the wide marketing of herbal medicine can facilitate the achievement of marketing targets. The herbal medicine industry workers are spread over 8 regencies or cities with the most workers originating from Sukoharjo and Wonogiri which are the closest locations to the Nguter herbal medicine industry, so the Nguter herbal medicine industry affects the community around the industry, especially in terms of employment. Herbal medicine is a product that is lighter than raw materials (weight losing), preferably close to raw materials and labor to save on transportation costs. The location of the Nguter herbal medicine industry is in accordance with Weber's theory for weight losing products, namely the industrial location is closer to raw materials and where the majority of workers live.
