Abstract
Background: The covid-19 pandemic condition can affect adolescent psychosocial such as anxiety and stress which can affect their eating behavior. Maintaining a balanced eating behavior by implementing PUGS is important in dealing with the pandemic. PUGS is a basic guideline on balanced nutrition consisting of 10 messages. Eating behavior can be influenced by several factors including psychological, family income, pandemic conditions, environmental factors and knowledge. Objective: This study aimed to describe the level of knowledge of balanced nutrition and behavior of PUGS in Nutrition Science Students, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta during the covid-19 pandemic. Research Methods: The sampling technique in this study used simple random sampling with a sample of 90 respondents. Data on balanced nutrition knowledge and PUGS behavior were taken by filling out a questionnaire via google form. The statistical test used was descriptive test. Research Results: Most of the students had a good level of knowledge about balanced nutrition (76,67%) and good PUGS behavior (54,44%). Knowledge that still needs attention was in points 2 and 4 about consumption of vegetables and fruit (59,77%) and protein intake (56,32%) because it had the lowest percentage, while PUGS behavior was in points 2 and 10 about vegetable consumption and fruit (51,20%) and physical activity (54,80%) Conclusion: Most of the students of the Nutrition Science Students at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta had good knowledge of balanced nutrition and fairly good PUGS behavior during the covid-19 pandemic.
