Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in changes to the learning system that was originally carried out face-to-face to be replaced by distance learning (PJJ) or online. This study aims to describe the management of PJJ (planning, implementation, and control), the obstacles that arise and the solutions to overcome them. This research belongs to the type of qualitative research carried out in the field with a case study design and an ethnographic approach. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 27 Surakarta. Primary data sources were obtained from school principals, vice principals in the field of curriculum, teachers, and students. Data collection techniques using in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The validity of the data was carried out by means of triangulation of sources and re-checking. Data analysis techniques in this study include data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that: (1) Distance learning planning (PJJ) at SMPN 27 Surakarta includes the preparation of learning instruments, the manufacture of teaching materials, the preparation of infrastructure, teacher training, and the preparation of implementation schedules; (2) The implementation of the PJJ has been running well and smoothly. It is carried out using an LMS in the form of Google Classroom and Zoom, and is supported by the Whatsapp (WA) chat application; (3) Control of PJJ is carried out by conducting monitoring and evaluation activities; (4) The obstacles found are divided into two, namely internal constraints (obstacles that exist in the school) and external constraints (coming from outside the school); (5) The solution to overcome obstacles is to maximize the role of teachers and parents, increase the diversity of media by using learning videos or applications that allow interaction and discussion between teachers and students, and work together with parents to guide children's learning during the implementation of PJJ.
